01/02/2009 - BRIDGES
The focus at Bridges is very much on our programme of local events for the Cambridge area. I’m hoping to make this site just a tad easier to follow and as a part of that process, I’ll be removing some of the pages previously dedicated to other local groups and instead providing links to their respective web sites (please see our other local groups page).
Numbers continue to increase, with our Sunday lunches over at The Tram Depot in Cambridge being particularly popular!
09/07/2008 - NUMBERS UP!!!
Well it does seem that 2008 is shaping up to be a great year for L4C with increasing numbers coming along to our events. It’s always encouraging to see new faces to see new faces. Particularly well attended was the Summer BBQ on July 5th with 21 people joining us!
28/12/2007 - Heading into 2008......
Our new events list for Suffolk & Cambs is finally here and with the help of our 3 new committee members from Bury St Edmunds (Gail, Julie & Jenny) to help us, you should see a greater variety of events in the Suffolk area!

Julie who (unlike yours truly) has far more of a flare for art and design is in the process of creating a new poster to replace my initial attempt which, while functional really didn’t present Localnet4Christians as the exciting and dynamic entity that we surely are!!  The message board has now undergone a ‘make-over’ of sorts and is now hopefully just a tad easier to follow. You’ll notice also that we’re attending the regular Ely Folk Club Concert Nights which, I have to say, have gone down a storm recently so thanks to all who have been supporting these!
19/09/2007 - The CC Speed Dating event in Cambridge.
Speed dating (or ‘rapid rejection’ as I’ve cynically referred to it in the past) has become incredibly popular in recent times. Despite some reservations I decided to give the recent SD event at the Bun Shop in Cambridge courtesy of Christian Connection a shot - and very impressed I was too! One might, in some social situations, be wondering how to open up a conversation with a new person, but with SD, the stage is set. The idea is to chat for 3 minutes with someone you’ll quite possibly be meeting for the very first time. So to that end it serves as a fantastic icebreaker. How effective it might be as a means of finding a partner - who knows? I’m sure the relevant statistics for SD are available somewhere. Overall I’d say it’s to be recommended as a great confidence builder and a real opportunity to make new friends!

Anyway - that’s just my opinion. We’d be more interested in your perspective. If you have a second - please take a look at our message board. Under the General Discussion category, there’s an invitation for you to register your views on the whole subject of Speed Dating. All comments would be greatly appreciated!
10/09/2007 - Late Summer BBQ. Message board & Live Chat added.
We’d like to first thank everyone who came along to our late summer BBQ. The weather was kind to us and music for the event was supplied by Pink Floyd (their classic album ‘Wish You Were Here’ 1975). I do feel just a tad guilty that Jules didn’t get to spin her Bridget Jones soundtrack CD, especially as it was her stereo!
The quest this month has been to make this site just a little more interactive to give all you lovely folks out there the chance to comment on what were doing!
The Blog comprises of eight Message boards. We’ve added a thread to each one (just to get you started), but would encourage your active participation in sending your suggestions for more subject lines to make things more interesting.
Then we have our Live Chat area for fun, entertainment and general amusement. We’ve also included some chat guidelines just to re-iterate the things you must have heard many times already concerning the possible dangers associated with exchanging personal details in chat areas.

I’ve added form style information entry on the Contact page to make things easier for those of you who are using a machine that doesn’t have an e-mail facility. Please remember to fill in all appropriate sections, especially if you wish for a reply from us!

Please remember our upcoming visit to the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge on Saturday September 22nd - meeting at Livingstones Coffee Shop at 12:00. Our evening meal will be at the superb Loch Fyne Fish Restaurant in Trumpington St. Please advise us via our Contact page if your hoping to join us!
22/08/2007 - Filling the empty spaces...
Many thanks to all those who’ve given their feedback on the site so far. In fact I’d like to mention Julie, Ian, Jeff and Sue who’ve been there to offer much constructive advice and encouragement over the past couple of weeks.

In response to some recent comment, I’ve been busy making a number of changes to make navigation just that little bit easier!

I’ve finally made use of that empty Gallery page! The pictures feature our recent trip to Clacton on Sea where we spent the day with a great bunch of guys and gals from Essex Solos. They’ve existed as a local group for around 7 years now and have an exciting selection of events planned for the months August through to December.

Several people have asked me if they could have something for the Church Notice board. Well, our Rapid Poster solution might just be the answer. Downloading the small paper wonder is a piece of cake. You can either click on the poster or explore the 5 options on the Rapid Poster Page.

The Links Page is looking just a tad sparse currently. So far we’re featuring the monthly Christian events publication for Cambridge (Across the City) and a link through to Alpha courses which are due to start in the Cambridgeshire area.

The Network Christians pages have undergone some expansion and transformation! I’m hoping to catch up with Sue to see if we can pack in some more info and add further pictures to the office section.
15/08/2007- Official Site Launch
Localnet4Christians is due to get its very first advertisement in Across the City - the monthly local Christian events publication for Cambridge.

Livingstones Coffee Shop in Cambridge is now featured over on our Venues page. The staff there were incredibly accommodating of us and were more than pleased to allow me to take a group picture for the site. I had a nice chat with the manageress who seemed very supportive of what we’re doing and needless to say, we have not just one but two of our original mini-sized posters currently pinned to their notice boards.
