A few basic guidelines...
Localnet4Christians - Live Chat: How it works & things to remember!
wp0c8b6f44.png
It’s strongly advisable not to give personal details like email addresses or phone numbers to anyone you find in a chat area. If you do decide you want to share personal info, then the advice here would be to click on the other user’s icon - This will cause a private room to open - enabling you to exchange dialogue secretly!
It’s maybe not a good idea to arrange to meet up with anyone on the basis of a conversation in a chat area unless it’s at a local group organised event.
And try, if at all possible, not to say anything in a chat area that you wouldn’t say if you were among fellow Christians. If you want to enter into a one to one conversation with another person in the area, then double click on their icon and a private chat window will open.
In common with many chat areas, ours require Java software to function. Many machines will have this installed already. If yours doesn’t -  that’s no problem! You’ll just need to download this before entry: -
The need for Java!
Bad Language?
There won’t be any! The system filter will block swear words and language which might cause offence. If however you feel that someone in a chat area has been communicating in a way that’s inappropriate then please send a message to info@localnet4christians.co.uk and we’ll try to investigate. We’ve got the ability to suspend accounts until people agree to behave or  - as a last resort - ban some users permanently!
I think It’s important to remember here that we’re a Christian web site and that surely means that Christ-Like attitudes and standards of communication should apply at all times!
Is it safe?
We believe so! We’ve made every effort to ensure that our chat area is as safe and secure as possible. Usernames are protected - They can only be used once, so there’s no risk of having multiple users with the same identity. During registration, along with your unique username - a valid email address must be provided and your memorable password created. A message will be sent to the nominated e-mail address and you’ll be asked to confirm your wish to register with the chat area.
The e-mail address supplied during live chat registration is requested in order to protect your identity from misuse, help us to investigate reports of inappropriate behaviour in the chat area and to enable retrieval of lost passwords. It will be kept strictly PRIVATE, it wont be forwarded to our mailing list or communicated to any third party.
